Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the group access places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
